The beloved region of the popular Czech novelist Ota Pavel spreads out west of Beroun. It covers over 600 km2 and is split in half by the Berounka river.
The rich diversity and high natural value of the area is determined by the many natural phenomena and varied historic context.

Geopark Barrandien

The area covers around 4 316 km2 and is cut in half by an imaginary line connecting Prague and Pilsen. The area called Barrandien became famous thank to the french scientist Joachim Barrande (1799-1883). He carried out large paleontological research in central Bohemia and Barrandien is named in his honour.

Bubovice Waterfalls

The waterfalls are situated on the Bubovice stream which tends to be dry for the major part of the year. Visit the waterfalls after heavy rains or in winter, when they freeze.
